RIVER RO-RO LINES
Currently the river ro-ro ships of INTERSHIPING Ltd. are working at two RO-RO lines, each with pre-announced schedule.
The schedules are publish at the end of each month and they usually relate to the next month. This is very useful to the clients, when they make an reservation and gives them better opportunity to predict and manage their activities. If there is a change in the navigation conditions (happens is an extremely rare), leading to a change of ETA and ETS (meaning of the terms is explained in this page "SCHEDULE")the schedules are announced as soon as possible.
RO-RO LINE PASSAU - VIDIN - PASSAU
RO-RO line Pasau-Vidin-Pasau was launched in June 1984 and is the first line, which shall be open for transport of RO-RO cargo on the Danube River. This is an event of national importance. With this RO-RO line Bulgaria was the first in Europe, which opened, developed and approved RO-RO shipments along the Danube River. The line has become part of the system for combined transport "land-water-land". It is a Bulgarian contribution in the development of the corridor TRACECA.
Initially the four catamarans m/v "Han Asparuh, m/v "Han Tervel, m/v "Han Kardam" and m/v "Han Krum" loaded mostly trucks and trailers of the company "SOMAT" as the capacity of their decks was 49 semi-trailers or 36 trucks. Later has begun to extend its activities, as regards the type of transported RO-RO vihicles. In December 1992 m/v "Han Tervel" transported 200 new cars "BMW" from Passau to Vidin, with which put the beginning of shipments of new cars. The four catamarans are equipped with equipment of the most prestigious type and they are working at the 24-hour regime of navigation. They have first class seagoing qualities (draft, manoeuvrability, speed, etc. ) and excellent performance, especially as regards dimensions and weight of goods, which can be loaded and transported to the board. The catamarans carry freight such as heterogeneous landing gear equipment, including containers, oversized and heavy cargo, wind generators, etc. Moreover, they are unrivalled in some relations.
RO-RO LINE PASSAU - VIDIN - RUSE - VIDIN - PASSAU
The operation of the RO-RO line Passau - Vidin - Ruse - Vidin - Passau has started since January 2009. This line actually expands perimeter of the previous RO-RO line, as RO-RO terminal Vidin remains reference point. In this way the transport of RO-RO cargo to the eastern part of the country (especially oversized and heavy goods, containers, etc.)becomes easier. In 2009 vessels transported many cars, trolleybuses, cranes, agricultural machinery, parts for wind turbines and others. This line may also be used for the carriage of RO-RO cargo between the two Bulgarian ports Vidin and Ruse.
RO-RO lines, which are operated by us provide connection between the following transport corridors:
- Transport corridor Nr.7 - Main - Rhine - Danube (through interconnection Vidin / Ruse - Burgas, ferry line Burgas - Poti - Novorossiysk, connection with Corridor 8 - Silk Road.)
